The First Gen Mentoring Program is a key initiative of First-Gen+ Programs that connects first-generation college students with faculty and staff mentors across campus. This program is designed to support students in their academic, personal, and social transition to college through one-on-one relationships with mentors who provide guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.
Each mentor is a UA faculty or staff member who is either a first-gen graduate themselves or passionate about supporting first-gen student success. Mentors and mentees are matched each academic year, and connections begin with our annual Mentor-Mentee Connection Event, held this year on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 4:00–5:00 PM.
