The Learning Commons Peer Tutors are trained to support students in a variety of courses. Sessions are designed to assist students with attaining a deeper understanding of course materials.
Our program offers drop-in “study hall” style tutoring and limited 30-minute 1:1 tutoring sessions to students in all courses that we support. 1:1 sessions must be scheduled at least 1 week prior to the session.
Tutors explain concepts in a way that you can understand and help you learn on your own terms. Tutors won’t give you the answers to your work, but we’ll give you something better: the tools and confidence to authentically learn.
Students can come in for tutoring at any point during the semester to review for an exam, discuss concepts, or work through homework, assignments, and practice problems. Many students find it beneficial to attend a tutoring session at least weekly to get the most out of this service.
Note: Peer Tutoring for the Fall 2025 semester will end at the conclusion of our services on Thursday, December 4 (8 PM) and will resume on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Spring 2026 Tutoring Schedule
Tutoring operates Monday through Thursday at varied times between 5 and 8 PM (see below) with set days for either drop-in or 1:1 tutoring sessions.
Math Test Week Schedule
All math courses have four major exams throughout the semester. The fall math test week schedule is as follows:

Tutoring sessions for PY 211 will be in Lloyd 215 from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Thursdays are reserved for 1:1 appointments.
Chinese 101 & 102
All regular drop-in sessions for Chinese 101 & 102 will be in Lloyd 202 from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The last 30 minutes (from 7:30 to 8 PM) are reserved for distance learners for a virtual session.
OM 300
We are in-between OM 300 tutors at the moment and are unable to support the course. If you are a student that has received at least an A- in this course, please reach out to Quincy Hall at quincy.hall@ua.edu.
ST 260
Tutoring sessions for ST 260 will be in Bidgood 225 from 5 to 8 PM, on Mondays and Wednesdays. Wednesdays are reserved for 1:1 appointments.

Tutoring sessions for EC 110 & 111 will be in Bidgood 15 from 5 to 8 PM, Monday through Thursday. Thursdays are reserved for 1:1 appointments.
FI 302
Tutoring sessions for FI 302 will be in Bidgood 119 from 6:30 to 8 PM, on Mondays and Wednesdays. Wednesdays are reserved for 1:1 appointments.
GEO 101 & 102
Tutoring sessions for GEO 101 & 102 will be in Lloyd 215 beginning from 5 to 8 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays. 1:1 appointments are not available for this course.
BSC 108 & 109
