First Gen Momentum is a personal and professional development program designed to support first-generation sophomores as they build leadership skills, deepen campus engagement, and explore academic and career pathways.
The University of Alabama defines a first-generation student as an undergraduate whose parents do not have a bachelor’s degree.
First Gen Momentum participants will:
- Build your leadership potential and discover ways to make an impact
- Explore majors, internships, and career pathways
- Expand your network by connecting with fellow students, campus leaders, and professionals
- Engage in professional development aligned with the Sophomore year
Expectations
- Attend bi-weekly Momentum sessions throughout the fall and spring semesters
- Actively engage in discussions and activities with fellow first-gen sophomores
- Meet with a dedicated first-gen staff member each semester
