What is Supplemental Instruction (SI)?

SI is a non-remedial approach to learning that supports students toward academic success by integrating “what to learn” with “how to learn.”
Sessions are facilitated by trained peer leaders who use collaborative activities to ensure peer-to-peer interaction in small groups.
SI Leaders previously aced the course content and are in the class now, so they can create activities targeting what is being taught in the classroom.
Students who participate in SI sessions typically earn higher grades and are less likely to withdraw than non-SI participants.
Data reflects higher graduation rates for students who regularly participate in SI.
Each session is one hour, and sessions are offered several times weekly.

Currently SI is available for all sections of Biology 114 and Chemistry 104.
