New View is a program for out-of-state, first-year women who have made UA their home away from home. New View provides out-of-state women opportunities to build community, foster lasting friendships, and engage in the campus community through student involvement opportunities.

There are two components to the program: small groups and monthly whole group socials.

As a part of New View, members commit to attending our monthly large group socials on the final Monday of each month from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. As a member, you can expect to engage in community building activities throughout the year as a whole group and in small group hangouts. You will have the opportunity to connect with on-campus, women student leaders as New View Mentors and participate in community service events. New View will introduce you to academic and success resources at The University of Alabama to prepare you for success.

Who are New View Mentors?

New View Mentors are a dynamic group of out-of-state, upperclassmen women focused on supporting the New View participants in their transition from high school to college at UA.

The New View Mentors experience includes attending whole group socials on the last Monday of each month, planning and hosting small group hangouts and meeting regularly with the New View Coordinator.

The goal of the New View Mentors is to interact with the first-year women in New View and provide opportunities for connection.

New View Mentor structure has 3 components:

  1. Whole group socials on the last Monday of the month. These will take place from 3:00-4:30pm.
  2. Small group socials with women from your state/region arranged and planned during the first two weeks of each month by you as New View Mentors assigned to a group. These can be as chill or formal as you want to make it! Go hang out on the Quad or arrange for everyone to meet out for lunch/dinner somewhere, up to you!
  3. Two meetings per semester with FYE’s New View Coordinator, Christina Scott, to ensure leadership development and support is being provided. One meeting during the first month of school and one meeting during the last month of school per semester.
