First Generation Programs

About Us

First Gen+ Programs supports students who are the first in their family to attend college or students who may experience barriers such as financial need. The programs focus on building community, opportunities for mentorship, and personal and professional development. Check out our programs below to find where you belong!

Legacy Scholars on an Industry Visit trip

Crimson Scholars

Connect with freshman peers through a focus on peer mentorship and career readiness in this invitation only program

First Gen Foundations

Create a foundation for your first semester by connecting with students, peer leaders, and campus resources

First Gen Fridays

Connect with a community of first-generation students on the first Friday of each month from 12 – 2 PM for food and fun activities

First Gen Celebration

Celebrate your successes during the first week of November with campuswide events sharing the story of first-gen students

First Gen Mentoring

Engage in mentorship with a faculty or staff member who can share advice and answer questions as your go-to person at UA

First Gen+ Workshops

Explore campus resources to support your UA experience through monthly workshops every third Wednesday at 4 PM

First-Gen Scholarship Students

Support our students, give to First-Gen.

The UA First office often receives requests from students for financial assistance for unexpected emergencies. Click the give button below to contribute to our support fund that enables us to assist with these requests. Once you are redirected to give.ua.edu, use the search bar to find the First Generation Program Support Fund. Donations can be a one-time or recurring gift. Thank you for your support!
