Phi Eta Sigma is a national honor society celebrating the academic accomplishments of first-year college students across the nation. The goal of the honor society is to encourage and reward academic excellence among first-year students in institutions of higher learning. Phi Eta Sigma is the oldest and largest first-year honor society.
At The University of Alabama, Phi Eta Sigma is an active member of the Coordinating Council for Honor Societies. The local chapter offers many opportunities for engagement including the following:
- Monthly chapter meetings with topics focused on professional development and personal wellness.
- Social events for members each semester.
- Service projects to support the local community.
Eligibility
All first-year students who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher at the end of any full-time curricular period during their first year. At UA, invitations to join are sent in the spring semester with an Induction Ceremony hosted in mid-spring semester.
