The SAEA Peer Advocates are a group of second-year students who serve as the student voice for the Office of Student Academic Engagement & Advocacy (SAEA) and are selected by SAEA professional staff. As trusted student leaders, Peer Advocates help the SAEA professional staff members better understand the evolving student experience by sharing insights, perspectives, and feedback from their peers. Through their involvement, they help ensure that programs and opportunities remain responsive to the needs of UA students while supporting academic success, social connection, and leadership development.
Role of a Peer Advocate
- Provide insight into current trends, challenges, and opportunities within the UA student experience.
- Highlight student voices by sharing genuine feedback from students across different majors, academic colleges, and involvement experiences.
- Advocate for opportunities that support academic success, social connection, and leadership development.
- Inform decision-making by offering real-time updates on student needs, campus culture, and emerging issues.
- Serve as peer mentors and are available by appointment to connect with first-year students seeking guidance, encouragement, and advice as they navigate their first year at UA.
- Represent SAEA at campus events and engagement opportunities, including programs such as Get On Board Day, helping students learn more about SAEA and connect with campus resources
