About Us
The Academic Advisors at the Capstone Center for Student Success offer holistic academic advising and support for students in the Crimson EDGE and Exploring 4 Success (E4S) programs throughout their first year. They assist in evaluating and selecting courses aligned with students' majors or career interests, help set academic, career, and personal goals, and connect students with relevant programs, services, and resources for various types of support. At the end of the one-year program, they ensure a smooth transition to appropriate college advising.

Where is the Capstone Center for Student Success located?
The Capstone Center for Student Success is located on the third floor of Russell Hall, which is at the corner of University Boulevard and Hackberry Lane
When can I meet with an academic advisor?
Crimson EDGE and Exploring 4 Success advisors are usually assisting students from 8:00 am to 4: 45 P.M. Monday – Friday. Advisors schedules may change during add/drop or course registration periods in the fall and spring semesters.
Are students required to meet with an advisor?
Crimson EDGE and Exploring 4 Success Students are required to meet with their advisor 3 times a semester. Students who are no longer participating in the Crimson EDGE or Exploring 4 Success programs should consult the advising office in the college of their major. All students are strongly encouraged to meet with an advisor.
How do I make an appointment to meet with my advisor at the Capstone Center for Student Success?

Why do I have a registration hold?
Advisors at the Capstone Center for Student Success give extra special attention to students and their schedules. It is important to know that a hold will be placed on your registration and will only be lifted after you have met with your assigned advisor. This hold ensures that students get one-on-one access to their advisor to discuss coursework and scheduling.
When do I register for classes?
First year students will complete course registration for the fall during their Bama Bound orientation session. (Bama Bound Orientation sessions occur throughout the summer.) Spring registration is completed during the fall semester after a student has discussed coursework and scheduling with their advisor.
I have taken courses at another institution will they count towards the requirements for my degree?
The University of Alabama accepts transfer work from post-secondary institutions that are fully accredited by regional accrediting agencies. Incoming transfer coursework will be evaluated against the current University of Alabama catalog at the time the transcript is received. A University of Alabama equivalent course, discipline-specific elective, or general elective will be assigned based on comparability of the course content.
