The Burton First Generation Endowed Scholarship is intended to provide the recipient with a scholarship to first generation students who have faced hardships in either their personal lives or at home and may not otherwise be able to attend the University without financial assistance.

Each spring, an incoming first year student is selected as a Burton Scholar at The University of Alabama. The recipient will be awarded funds that are renewable all 4 years with a one-time allowance for technology.

Students are selected through a competitive interview process during their senior year of high school. The application process is limited to incoming first year Alabama residents.
