What are the benefits of serving as a Peer Leader?

Benefits of being a Peer Leader include:

  4. Establish positive relationships with fellow students, faculty, and staff.
  5. Play a vital role in the UA community.

Before applying to be a Peer Leader, please review the requirements, responsibilities, and mandatory dates.

Requirements

  • Submit a completed Peer Leader application.
  • Complete the interview process.
  • Attend the Spring Peer Leader Meet & Greet event.
  • If selected, enroll in UA 110 – Peer Leader 101 (one credit hour, graded course).
  • Attend all class times for the compass course you are assigned.
  • Create and sustain a positive working relationship with your compass course Instructor.
  • Plan and execute engagement opportunities for first-year students in your assigned course.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a coach to first-year students in the course you serve as a Peer Leader.
  • Serve as a positive role model to first-year students.
  • Serve as an undergraduate teaching assistant in your compass course.
  • Build rapport with first-year students, fellow peer leaders, and instructional staff.
