Before applying to be a Peer Leader, please review the requirements, responsibilities, and mandatory dates.
Requirements
- Submit a completed Peer Leader application.
- Complete the interview process.
- Attend the Spring Peer Leader Meet & Greet event.
- If selected, enroll in UA 110 – Peer Leader 101 (one credit hour, graded course).
- Attend all class times for the compass course you are assigned.
- Create and sustain a positive working relationship with your compass course Instructor.
- Plan and execute engagement opportunities for first-year students in your assigned course.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a coach to first-year students in the course you serve as a Peer Leader.
- Serve as a positive role model to first-year students.
- Serve as an undergraduate teaching assistant in your compass course.
- Build rapport with first-year students, fellow peer leaders, and instructional staff.
