Crimson Scholars is an invitation only program designed for incoming students to connect with peers and upperclassmen peer mentors with similar academic/career interests and jumpstart their success at UA. Each Learning Community (LC) will be a group of 10-12 students that meet weekly for the first eight weeks of each semester. Crimson Scholars are also invited to monthly events, weekly study halls with tutoring, and service events throughout the academic year. The total time commitment for the program will be about four hours per month.

Expectations for 2023-2024 Scholarship Eligibility*:

  • Attend the Scholar Welcome Event on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 1 – 5 p.m.
  • Attend all 8 weekly Learning Community meetings to support your academic success and career planning
    • Learning Community Meetings are held on Mondays or Tuesdays from 4 – 5 p.m. according to your assigned small group. Crimson Scholars will be assigned their Learning Community day during summer 2023. During Bama Bound course registration, please be prepared to hold one of these meeting times available.
  • Connect with a peer mentor and a dedicated professional staff member
  • Build community by participating in monthly social events, weekly study halls with tutoring, and service events throughout the academic year

*All first year Crimson Scholars who meet participation expectations each semester are eligible for a $3000 scholarship – $1,500 awarded in spring 2024 and $1,500 in fall 2024.
